Cecily strong
Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8th 1984) is an American comedian, actress as well as a producer and singer. Strong is best known because she was a part-time cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 2012 to 2022. Strong is also the longest-tenured female member of the cast in the history of the show. Strong was a CalArts graduate who performed improv at The Second City in Chicago. She currently plays a leading part in the Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon! (2021-present) that she is also co-producing.
She also voiced The Awesomes (2013 to 2015) in addition to supporting roles in films such as Ghostbusters and The Meddler. In 2015, she hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner. Her first book, a memoir This Will All Be Over Soon, was published in 2021.
She was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards at the 72nd and 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards as Outstanding Supporting Artist on a Comedy Series for her work on Saturday Night Live.
Childhood and early life
Strong was born in Springfield Illinois and grew up in Oak Park (an inner-ring suburb of Chicago). She is the daughter of Penelope and William "Bill" Strong, who served as the Associated Press bureau chief and until 2013 was running his own company of public relations. Penny Legler Strong, a nurse practitioner who worked extensively in hospitals of the region has retired. Strong's parents were divorced. Strong has watched SNL with her mother as an infant. She would recreate sketches with her friend and watch older SNL commercials on VHS. "I had an old tape with the best commercials, and I wore it out, every day." She has stated that she was inspired by Phil Hartman.
